Dabney H. McKenzie

After a childhood in Winter Park, Florida, Dabney McKenzie has spent her adult life in Montgomery, Alabama, where she taught Gifted Education for twelve years prior to moving to higher ed to teach in the Graduate School of Troy University. Though “officially” retired from her university administrative duties, she still teaches the capstone class for education majors in the Troy University College of Education.

Dabney’s family has been summering in Castine since 2005. She first became involved with the Castine Historical Society as a docent in 2018. During the pandemic when it was not possible to conduct “business as usual,” she transitioned into becoming a walking tour guide, a totally different, but delightful CHS experience. Since 2022, she has been the volunteer Docent Coordinator for CHS, making sure the Abbott School is staffed with volunteers from June through mid-October.
