Marc had been coming to Castine for several years with his wife Penny Carlhian, and in 2016 made the decision to buy a summer home on Green Street; they have recently chosen to live here full-time. Having been active both personally and professionally in historic preservation, Marc’s interest in the Castine Historical Society has been a great ‘fit’. Marc has built and designed many projects, from early days on Martha’s Vineyard to Boston and beyond, utilizing carpentry skills and his architectural education. An alumnus of the Boston Architectural College, he also served as a trustee for several years, and was Chair of the Board during a particularly challenging period in the college’s history. He was President of the Boston chapter of the Society of Marketing Professional Services and was a charter member of the board of Professional Women in Construction (Connecticut chapter). Marc’s interest in historic structures, design and details, and his ability to physically take on many tasks for CHS should serve the Historical Society well.
