Our collections page will provide detailed descriptions of the archives, digitized examples from the collections, and updated information about the research potential available to all. Castine Historical Society members and volunteers have spent decades amassing dozens of albums of photographs, a library of books and maps, shelves full of diaries and account books, and hundreds of files of information documenting every aspect of Castine history right up to the present day.
We are open year-round by appointment for research ranging from house history to student papers to genealogy. Please call (207)326-4118 or email curator@castinehistoricalsociety.org to schedule a visit.
The Castine Historical Society actively collects photographs, papers, maps, memorabilia and artifacts to document life in Castine and the Bagaduce River area. If you would like to donate an item you think is worth preserving, we would love to hear from you. Either we will add your material to our collection or suggest a more appropriate institution for you to contact.
